Inside my Album: Lucy’s First Year Album

October 25, 2015 By Melissa Shanhun Leave a Comment

Baby days go past so quickly and there are mountains of photos to scrapbook. Have you ever looked a pile of photos from your baby's first few months in dismay? You can use digi scrapping to get those photos into an album in just a few hours.

I've done a variety of different styles of baby books over the years. Lucy's book is my third completed baby book and I used the Project Life App, Baby for Her Digital Kit and Photoshop Elements to create the book. I used one or two pages for each month and finished with Lucy's first birthday celebration.

In the end I printed using a coupon for Shutterfly.

Here's a closer look at all the pages and journalling I created.

Lucy\'s Birth Day
We were so excited for you to meet Emily and Edward, so Grandma and Grandad brought them to meet you. While we were in hospital we had a few visitors, grandparents, family and friends. After a couple of weeks of on and off contractions we headed to hospital on the 17th to be induced. You were born at 3:05 PM on the 18th of June. You were a healthy 3580 kg, 51 cm long and your head circ was 35.5 cm.
Lucy\'s first month - Digital Scrapbook Page
Lucy is starting to have a little bit more awake time so I've finally managed to get a pic or two with eyes open! She was especially keen to look at Daddy when he got home tonight. (Phill's first day back at work since she was born) You have been gaining weight well but have been having trouble attaching for night feeds.
Meeting the family
Nan and Pop missed seeing us in hospital as some one told them we were sleeping. So after we settled in we invited them over.Kath made the trip from Townsville to meet you.
Lucy you are loved by all of us! Edward is always coming to check if you are in your bassinet when he wakes up.
Lucy\'s first month - Digital Scrapbook Page
You were fairly settled so didn't go in the Baby Bjorn too often.
We spent 5 days in hospital and Phill took two weeks off work.
Lucy\'s 2nd month - Digital Scrapbook Page
Since about 6 weeks you’ve been wearing size 000. In fact you are already too long for some of the 000s.
You are really starting to vocalise, smile and interact with toys. You love to tell us stories about everything that happens. Edward is fascinated by you and each time you make a sound he points it out to me. Emily loves being your big sister and tells everyone we meet about you. You’ve already enjoyed your first church camp and even got babysat by Grandma Okely for mummy’s glucose tolerance test.
At 7 weeks your had your frenotomy on your upper lip and tongue to stop the clicking and help you have a better attachement. The lactation consultant did a very thorough suck test and it turns out you were work twice as hard to get your milk as a the norm. You were smiling and happy even after the odd tastes of the local anaesthetic and the dentist’s bubblegum flavoured gloves. We hope this will help you feed more easily with your short tongue and high palate, as well as avoid future issue with eating solids, speech, orthodontic work.
We love you Lucy
Lucy\'s 3rd month - Digital Scrapbook Page
Lucy this month you have really started to smile a lot more. You are happy to see each family member on waking and even in the night you smile at me after a feed! You are trying so hard to laugh, and just a day after your 3m birthday you laughed.
Trying to roll. Getting a little chatty. Eyes clearing up. Some 000s are getting small.. Sleeping in the cot. You have chubby little leggies. Loving the new playgym. Waking at around 4am for a feed. 3 hourly during the day.
Lifting your head easily for tummy time
You hold tightly to our hands and try to sit up.
Lucy\'s fourth month - Digital Scrapbook Page
Lucy you are a delight. You smile at each person you meet and show us that you recognize voices even over the phone. You have learnt to hold things and sometimes you manage to let go too. You enjoy holding your hands together and chomping on your hands. You love to play on your mat and since learning to roll on the 11th you've not looked back! You enjoy sitting in your high chair while we eat dinner - if you are awake still. This month you've pretty much moved into 00 clothes. You weigh 73 kg (clothed) which is about the 85 percentile.
You are waking for the day at between 5-7am. You are sleeping well again after a couple of weeks of disturbed nights. Most evenings you go to bed between 5-7 pm. There's little correlation between bedtime & wake times. Some nights you have an extra feed  at bedtime. Other days you just happily sleep through.
Lucy\'s fifth month - Digital Scrapbook Page
You usually have a 3 naps each day and love seeing everyone when you wake.
Lucy\'s fifth month - Digital Scrapbook Page
Lucy loves Zippy the Zebra, Sleeping Music at church, Pointing her finger. Lucy Tried Water in a bottle, Jumping in a jolly jumper, Sitting in her high chair, Sitting in the bumbo chair. Lucy is Happy, Smiley, chatty, Giggly. Most of the time. For a couple of weeks your eye teeth were bothering you and you cried a lot, but you kept sleeping through each night.
Lucy\'s sixth month - Digital Scrapbook Page
This month you have been an absolute joy. You smile and laugh whenever we come to get you out of your bed.
Rocking back and forward on knees, Arching up onto your hands and toes, Sliding backwards. Emily thinks its time for you to have your playpen out since you can roll and shuffle around and get into things now.
Some things you Tried this month: Crossing fingers, Licking the floor, Sitting for you Grandma and Grandad (but not for Mummy yet!) You went to your first Christmas carols and dance concert and you also settled for Daddy on dress rehearsal night. You have two naps each day plus a bottle catnap in the early evening. You love to watch what's going on but you also enjoy playing with your toys.
27 November Your first food was pumpkin and you really enjoyed it. You screwed up your face when you taste something new but you actually seem to enjoy and now you even grizzle for us to give you the next spoonful. You are eating almost 2 tablespoons in one sitting. You've tried carrot, sweet potato, apple, mango, and pumpkin. You enjoy chewing on apple rusks, your dummy and teethers.
Lucy\'s sevent month - Digital Scrapbook Page
You have grown so much this month! You have tried lots of new foods: pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, mango, apple, pear and chips! You are excited when you see your food getting ready.I think we can now say that you are crawling, but you aren’t too speedy yet. You are almost pulling yourself up to sit from crawling. You love to play in your playpen, as you can push your feet off the edges to grab things. You are happy when you wake and often laugh and rock back and forth on your knees excitedly when I come in and say ‘Hello Lucy’.
Lucy\'s sevent month - Digital Scrapbook Page
This month you had your first Christmas and all that brings, as well as well as your first swim in the paddling pool, family photos and well lots more!

You are just a happy baby, you are just so quick to smile. You are always happy when you wake. You are enjoying food, starting to try to wave and 'dance' to music. You had your first swim at Mulaco Beach this month. You love to investigate the pantry if we ever forget to close the door.
Lucy\'s ninth month - Digital Scrapbook Page
This month Lucy can say Mum! You stop to dance to any music you hear. You love the Jolly Jumper. You enjoy creche and want to play as soon as you arrive and see the toys. You are pulling up to stand. You can say Ja. You are eating lots of different foods. You love broccoli and apple. You love to look carefully at toys and especially enjoy the letterbox with its music.

Lucy\'s tenth month - Digital Scrapbook Page
This month you are really adventuring. Start to cruise along furniture. Clapping to music, or to say well done. You have two and sometimes three naps each day. You love to snuggle in Edwards bed for the story. You sometimes cry in your sleep but rarely wake in the night. You suck your thumb if you are tired. You have 4 teeth, you wear size 0 and 1. You can say gah, p, mum

Loving to play on your own or with Emily and Edward.
Lucy\'s 12th month
Lucy\'s 12th month
Lucy you are really trying to say a few more words now and can say bye and wave. Though not quite brave enough to push along anything with wheels, you enjoy pushing along a box. You are interested in getting dressed, putting your arms and legs out to help with dressing, and putting on your hat (after pulling it off!) You have a keen sense of humor and love to join in laughing at our jokes.
Lucy\'s first birthday party
We had about 30 people come to celebrate your first birthday. Your grandparents, all the Aunties and Uncles in Perth and a lot of the extended family were able to come. We had friends come too. You were very relaxed about it all.
