Each week I share a scrapbook layout to inspire you to play with pretty pixels too. I've invited scrapbookers and crafters from the Digital Scrapbooking HQ community to share their creations with you!
Today Leanna Timmerman is sharing how she creates DIY Christmas Gifts
DIY Christmas Gifts: Wine Bottle
What inspires you to create?
My creations are all gifts to give to my friends and family. Usually, all I need to do is think of the recipient and an idea presents itself. It’s just that easy. The wine bottle is for a gift exchange hosted by my friends in the neighborhood. So I wanted to make something very festive for one of them to display, on her kitchen counter, perhaps.
What supplies did you use?
Pinterest provides almost all of what I need, so I haven’t purchased or downloaded many things. I save the image to my desktop and then drag it into PSE.
What printer or other supplies did you use?
My printer is a Canon Pro 9000. It’s an art quality printer and really does a great job with detail and color. I print on Office Depot Premium Brochure & Flyer Paper which gives the vibrancy I like. The green paper with holly is actually a photo of fabric that was for sale last year at Jo-Ann’s Fabric and Craft Store and posted on Pinterest. In PSE, I saturated the color and changed the hue from bluish green to yellowish green to give it a richer look and I used the resized image several times to make a complete page for printing. The poinsettia is clip art. As before, I saturated color and altered hue and adjusted size. I printed two images, one for the base and one to cut out individual brackens to put on the base. I curl the leaves with my hands and a bit with a stylus. The paper lace was made using a Martha Stewart border punch. The ribbons were Holiday Trimmings brand. I use double sided tape and glue dots and Artist Glitter glue for adhesives.
How long have you been scrapping/crafting?
At least 15 years. I started with plain scrapbooks and moved to card making and now decorate wine bottles every season. I belong to a crafting group called Pen and Paper Arts (PAPA) here in my neighborhood. We have classes every Friday afternoon. Sometimes, I am the instructor, but more often, the student. It’s a lovely group of talented women who share expertise and offer much encouragement.
