Ali Edward's Week In The Life is a creative project that captures the essence of everyday life. Ali Edwards, a seasoned memory keeper and storyteller, has been leading this project since 2005. The upcoming Week In The Life 2024 is just around the corner, starting on April 22nd. 📅
Why Week In The Life Matters
Before we delve into the design formula, let’s pause and acknowledge something essential: your story matters. Yes, you—the person reading this right now. Whether you’re navigating parenthood, working from home, shuttling kids to activities, or simply experiencing life, your moments are worth documenting. And that’s precisely what Week In The Life is all about.
The Design Formula
Ali Edwards has perfected a design formula that simplifies the process of capturing a week’s worth of memories. Here’s how she approaches it:
- Set a Foundation: Ali recommends having a set design foundation in advance. This provides homes for your words and photos. It takes the guesswork out of the creative process and ensures consistency throughout your album.
- Words + Photos: Week In The Life often involves a lot of words and photos. By establishing a design formula, you’ll know approximately how many photos you’ll want to include. Remember, this project is about storytelling, so embrace both the visual and written aspects.
- Make It Your Own: You don’t have to follow Ali’s approach exactly. Maybe this year, a simplified version—focusing solely on words and photos—feels right for you. Or perhaps you want to experiment with unique designs or use the Week In The Life notebook. The key is to adapt it to your season of life.
I love to work on this project with my own little twists:
- I start documenting on a Sunday (in my mind a week starts on Sunday LOL)
- I scrapbook in my standard 12x12 size for printing at 8x8 with Forever
- I just make notes and take photos and do the scrapbooking later (often during May LOAD)
Ali’s Collection for 2024
Ali Edwards has curated a delightful collection of products specifically for Week In The Life 2024. From patterned papers to embellishments, these items will enhance your storytelling. For me, the digital supplies are all I need, but she has paper ones too. You can see them all here.
