On Wednesday, 2 August 2023, I was excited to be part of the first-ever City of Joondalup Plus Eight Sprint Pre-Accelerator cohort presenting their final pitches to a panel of judges and a supportive audience. The Plus Eight Sprint program, run by the City of Joondalup in partnership with Spacecubed and Redi Software, is a six-week pre-accelerator program that helps local entrepreneurs take their business ideas to the next level. The program provides access to mentors, investors, and advisors, as well as training in business validation, customer discovery, product development, and pitching skills.
The pitch night was the culmination of the program, where the participants had the opportunity to showcase their progress and achievements, as well as compete for a share of $10,000 in funding from Lotterywest IdeaStarter. The judges for the night were Jeremy Chetty, Tim Brewer and Zoe Vos experienced entrepreneurs and investors in the local startup ecosystem. The pitches covered a wide range of industries and sectors, such as education, health, tourism, social impact, and more.
You can take a look at my pitch here:
If you like the sound of done-for-you photo books, you can get started with an initial meeting here.
The winners of the funding were:
- 1st Prize, $5,000 – Mums on a Mission who run outdoor fitness coaching for mums.
- 2nd Prize, $3,000 – Digital Scrapbooking HQ for photo book and photo organising services.
- 3rd Prize, $2,000 – SiteVisuals for their timelapse construction photography.
Ryan from CamPlus also pitched and his start up has gone on to the Curtin Ignition.
Thanks to the City of Joondalup, Spacecubed, Lotterywest IdeaStarter, Jasmin Ward, Daniel Foster and all the mentors, speakers, judges, and sponsors for their contribution and collaboration in making this program possible.
I can't wait to see what the future brings!
