Each week I share a scrapbook layout to give you a little sneak peek into what I’m scrapping, and inspire you to play with pretty pixels too.
Today I’m sharing a page from my 2015 One Little Word Project. Each year I choose a word to focus on - in previous years I've chosen Grow, Focus, Play and Finish. It helps inspire me to positive action in my life.
My personality lends itself to a state of FLOW, which is great. I can get caught up in things and it never feels like effort. BUT I can tend to go on tangents or ignore the real world. This year, I'll be making the changes I need to allow the flow to continue but have 'catch' points to bring me back to 'reality'
Today I'm also joining in the Make it Monday blog circle with this post, so you may have came from my friend Jen who is sharing how you can meet your design goals this year with this freebie but if not, be sure to check out her post too.

Also, the other meaning of present will remind me to accept the gifts that others offer, and give my own.

The Process
To start with I check Photoshop Elements Organizer for some previews of kits I've not used yet (see this class to learn more!) and thought One Fine Day would work.
Today I used a tried and true design I learnt from Scrapbook Coach: Criss Cross. I used the blue paper and the title 'Present' to form an asymmetrical cross on my page.
I used the idea of a brand new notebook cover as the theme for my page.
The blue paper to represents binding (I just cut it out with the Marquee tool)
Added a journal card and a part of a premade banner from One Fine Day.
I could not resist adding a flower, leaft and a small section of lace to make a little cluster too.
I actually spent a bit of time adding and removing embellishments (ink splatters, hearts, you name it!) from this page, but in the end I decided to keep it simple so that the eye could rest a focus on the main point of this page - the word for my year.

Hello Melissa, I too am taking part in Ali Edward’s OLW 2015 class and I love your above post about your word this year and what you’ve created digitally. I have a question for you. I just got a new PC and have a free subscription to Photoshop Elements and would LOVE to learn to use it for scrapbooking…How would you recommend I get started…as it seems overwhelming to me? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you, Kim G. Fairfield, CT

Hi Kim, I’d recommend that you start with the basics. 🙂
If you’ve never used PSE I’d recommend this course http://www.digitalscrapbookinghq.com/peab
I hope this helps!
