I was thrilled to be invited back as a featured designer for the Scrap Happy Layout a Day: Scrapbook Magic this May.

Today's prompt was: Use your magic words (Manners)

For this prompt I instantly thought of a story about Emily on Christmas morning, asking for fruit mince pies. I chatted about the prompt with my husband Phill, and his response was the exact same anecdote. So that definitely deserved documenting!

Create the Look

For this layout, I decided to see if I could find some pre-made elements to jump-start my page. I found a fun layered file from Scrapaneers Champions that had some embellishments that spoke to me. I used one photo spot for my photo and another for my journalling. I played around a bit with this layout, editing some of the word art to work with my story. I love how to short deadlines in LOAD somehow kick me out of my comfort zone and before I knew it I was combining word art and two alphas for the title - something I almost never do!

Journalling

On Christmas Day, we headed to the Okely's house for morning tea.
Emily was so sweet and polite. "Excuse me Mummy, may I have one of those tasty looking pies” (aka fruit mince pies).

It was so adorable - we all laughed and quote that line every time we have fruit mince pies!
