As a featured designer for LOAD516, I'll be sharing process videos to show you a little more about my layouts this month. Today I worked on the prompt about meals.
Day 8: DAILY LIFE: Feeling hungry? What are meals like at your house? Who cooks? Who helps? Who plans the meals? Are the meals planned? Feel free to share a favourite recipe!
I jumped on the meal planning aspect of the prompt here, also sharing a little about how the children and Phill help with our family meals.
Journalling
Growing up Mum always planned our meals. We had about a month’s worth on a rotation. That way each of us were sure to have a couple of meals every week that we enjoyed.
I’m the main cook around here, but Phill is more than capable of whipping up a meal and often helps out with finishing off the meals when he comes home (especially if I’m feeding a baby or not feeling well).
I started using Plan to Eat thanks to my friend Donna Campbell and I looked up recipes for each of our meals to add to the site. I’ve got a 6 week menu now! Go me!
It was a lot of work to set it up but now shopping is easier (though we don’t use the shopping list feature, Phill just remember the ingredients as he looks at the menu when he does the online shopping).
Though Emily and Edward love to help with the baking, the evening meal is usually cooked while they are playing outside, tidying up the house or watching children’s television. Now they are old enough to set the table, and take over their plates after tea.

Design
For this layout I started with the colours from the Plan to Eat Logo and did a ‘photoless’ page. I added a couple of clusters just for fun, but kept the design simple to let the gorgeous logo shine! I put the logo on a dark background as it had some odd shadowing that I wanted to hide. Yes, I designed the page around the logo! Anything can happen in a LOAD layout!
I fiddled with that bubble wrap/paint effect piece for ages, but in the end I decided to resize it and put it on a cardstock piece. As if I’d painted then trimmed down the paper. I spent a good 10 minutes working on that. So much for fast scrapping!
I hope you are inspired to tell your stories with the Layout a Day Challenge!
Happy Scrapping
