How to move your photo library off Photoshop.com

March 7, 2013 By Melissa Shanhun 5 Comments

Adobe Revel IconPhotoshop.com storage is changing to Revel. If you have been using the online storage at Photoshop.com. You may have a question similar to Teresa's

I have to move my Photoshop Elements library by 18 June 2013 because Photoshop.com storage is changing to Adobe Revel. Can I move my library to a USB memory stick? I have mostly scrapbook kits and alot of it. They have offered to upgrade me to Photoshop 11 Should I just move my stuff to 11? would that be the easiest or best move to make? Please help

Adobe Revel is a brand new product, so the features are not as mature as the old Photoshop.com membership. Currently Abode Revel only handles JPG, not PNG and other file formats.
Adobe says:
Photoshop.com storage and sharing service and Elements membership will move to a new home — Adobe® Revel™. Over the next few months, we will move users’ JPEG photos from Photoshop.com to Revel, and on June 18, 2013 we will close the storage and sharing service part of Photoshop.com. Although the Photoshop.com storage and sharing service will move to Revel, the Photoshop.com website will continue to be the destination for Photoshop product information, education, and inspiration.

A few things to note:

  • Revel doesn’t yet support all file formats, so we recommend archiving your current Photoshop.com library to your computer before June 18, 2013. Archive now.
  • This is just the beginning — in the coming months, we will address key customer requests and expand onto new platforms, devices, and file formats.
  • Elements 11 is integrated with Revel, so Elements 11 users can start using Revel now to access and view their Elements photos across multiple devices.
  • We’ve created a dedicated forum for your questions and feedback. We value your input and strive to make this experience as easy as possible.

Backup your Files Today

  • Head to Adobe's Revel FAQ page
  • Click on the link Get Downloader
  • Choose to save your photos and supplies on an External Drive or your PC hard drive.
You can continue to use Photoshop Elements Organizer to manage your photos and supplies and Revel to share photos and store JPEG files.
Another option for photo sharing and storage is Flickr
If you were using Photoshop.com as more of a backup system, why not look into other options that can do that for you. You can see our review of a number of backup services here.

Melissa, HELP! Sorry for shouting, I just need some help! Can someone please tell me how I ended up with a bazillion duplicates of photos and digi supplies on my organizer, in my files, etc? well, I think I know how they got there, but what to do with them..that is the question. see, I go thru photos..choose the ones to send out to print, or file to print, or share, etc. then, organizer and other programs pick them up and add them..again..to the organizer files. before you know it..there are half a dozen copies of my bichon after burrowing for the mole..his face all brown and cute..no white left..ok, so he is cute. but now I go thru my organizer and there he is, literally 6 times in all his glory cause it picked them up from my “facebook” file and my “snapfish” file and my windows file, etc. My question is; how to avoid and find and get rid of duplicate files. Thank you!

      Hi Linda 🙂

Sounds like you have too much cuteness going on with that puppy dog!

I’ll take a look into it. What version of PSE are you using – are you on a PC?

If you are on a PC, check the watched folders. If you store your copies in a seperate, to print or to share folder you could make sure PSE isn’t looking there to add things to the catalogue.

I know what you are talking about though, for each of my layouts I have a PSD, preview size jpeg for galleries and the big JPG for Flickr.

I’ll get back to you on this.

      🙂 Melissa
PS you have moles! 🙂 We don’t get them in Perth… so to me they seem cute!!

Melissa, thank you, and so glad you understood my babble! Right now, elements 9, will hopefully upgrade soon. yes PC. will check watched folders, good idea it seems set to find all pictures!. One of my other frustrations is that I would take time and delete files in one computer, then it seemed that the sync would bring them back!
I am thinking to empty it ALL onto an external, then bring them back one by one, but wow, that is overwhelming. seems like there must be a way to search organizer for duplicates.

oh, yes, moles are really cute, they are like little blind mice that burrow and leave little tunnels under the ground. the dogs like to chase them, not sure what they would do if they ever caught one!
