As a featured designer for LOAD516, I'll be sharing process videos to show you a little more about my layouts this month. Today's prompt gave me a chance to pull out some photos I took a couple of years ago and finally tell the story of my grandmother's ring.
Day 12: MY FAVE: Share a story about a favourite object. Where did it come from? Why is it special? Is it valuable? etc.
I instantly thought of my grandmother’s ring for this prompt. I don’t know if it’s my favourite object, but it’s got to be in the top 10. As soon as I thought of that idea I went straight to scrapping, since I knew I had photos too!
I had taken photos of this ring for a class, but never got around to scrapping them, so this prompt was the perfect inspiration! Plus, for LOAD using existing photos helps get those pages done more quickly. I started with a template to help me design this page, and I even took the colour inspiration from the template too (that blue bird was part of the template). I found a kit with colours I liked and stuck to it.

Journalling
This ring tells a story. Love, commitment, artistry, Staying together in good times and bad, in sickness and in health. Remembering the good moments together.
It was Grandma's wedding ring.
Grandad was a jeweller and made it for her later in their marriage. It was the ring Grandma wore for the years I remember.
When Grandma passed away I made known my wish to have that wedding ring. For my 16th birthday I was delighted to receive it.
I used to take the ring on and off daily, trying to preserve the engraving on the white and yellow gold. In the end I decided it was safest to just never take it off. So I didn't.
I love carrying this memory of Grandma with me each day.

I love this idea! I have been wearing my grandmother’s band since I was a teen, also her sisters high school ring, she was like another grandmother. When my mother passed away years ago, I started wearing her wedding band also. I love that I carry a part of them with me.
