15-Minute Challenge: Import your existing photos

There are two steps to handling your photos.

  1. Import your  existing photos
  2. Automate the importing of new photos

For Windows and Mac you’ll need to first manually import existing photos, and then set it up to import your new photos automatically.

Look for the section below that suits your operating system and follow along.

Your time starts…. now!

Hi Melissa! I am doing ok with the photo collections but I do have a question. You said it would be best to leave auto recognition on for photo catalog but to turn that off for Digi Supplies. I tried that but whatever I set my preferences to in media analysis ends up being the same in both. I have PSE 9 and on a PC. Is there something that I am doing wrong or not doing? Thank you for your help.

Perhaps it seems to be a program-wide option in PSE9. You can leave the recognition for faces on, and turn off the others so your photos get the faces recognized.

Melissa, the link for day 8 in the e-mail goes to page not found. Just wanted to let you know.
I really appreciate this class. I have saved copies, but haven’t ben able to work with my files yet due to my health and our grandson being in a wreck.. He ended up with a broken arm. We are so blessed as he was in a 4 door pickup with 4 of his friends and it rolled 4 times. The only injuries were his broken arm and a broken collar bone for one of the other boys (all had their seat belts on). He has a yard mowing business (55 yards) so his dad and my husband have had to mow for him. It’s messed with all our schedules.
Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with us. It’s so appreciated.

      Hi Carole

So sorry to hear that! Thankfully no one was hurt too badly.

The lesson should be working now. Try the link again.

      🙂 Melissa

Ok Melissa, I think I’m ready to open PSE Organizer and give this a whirl. Thanks to your awesome video instruction. I also read your article in The Daily Digi article which was informative…I did have to read it aloud slowly to myself to grasp the metadata jargon, but I think I understand. You are soooooo smart! Glad to be taking this class and just posted it on my FB page. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    Hi Melissa!
I have tried to import my files into the Organizer several
times. Each time, a pop-up box comes up with a message that the files have been imported with some exceptions. But, when I close that message, there are no files in the Organizer.
I sent you an email with screen shots… hopefully you can help solve this mystery!
Thank you so much for all your invaluable help!
