There's several headline-grabbing features in any new version of Photoshop Elements and I've covered them at the Daily Digi. I've also highlighted some great new features in PSE Organizer here.

But in any new upgrade it's the little improvements that I really enjoy.

New Welcome Screen

On the welcome screen you can now open recently used files or create a new image before you even get into the Editor.

You can choose whether to go straight to Editor or Organizer when you open PSE.

You can also right click pin to program to the Taskbar in Windows, or just drag the icon over onto you Dock on a Mac.

Create New File Presets

Building on PSE13 preset improvements, scrapbookers can now set up their own preset sizes. This is perfect for hybrid albums, where you may be using a variety of page protectors or setting up custom pocket cards.

Just select the custom option, from the Preset drop down box. Then enter the dimensions you want for your new preset.

Click Save Preset and you'll be prompted to set a name and decide what elements (resolution, background etc) will make up your new file preset.

Click OK and you are DONE!

Next time you click File > New (Or hit Cmd+N/Ctrl+N) you'll see your new preset along with the other options!

Fully-Justify text

This isn't a new feature, but I just wanted to mention it. Several people have asked how to fully justify text in Photoshop Elements when there's no icon in the text panel to do so.

Just selection your text, press Ctrl+Shift+J (Cmd-Shift-J on a Mac)

Voila! Your text is now justified on both edges with the last line being left-justified.

Apply Multiple Layer Styles at Once

Preset layer styles in Photoshop CC don't 'stack' in the same way the do in PSE. So this feature is worth highlighting.

To try it, go ahead and double-click on any style in the Effects panel > Styles.

Here I've stacked a brick wall style and a drop shadow. If I then add a glow, it won't remove the drop shadow or wall effect. If you've added styles and decide you don't want them, just head to the Layers panel and right click and select Clear Layer Style.

New File Info Box

Open a file, any file. Head to File > File Info.

The whole dialog is new and improved and make it much easier to copy and paste my credits and journalling into the description box and avoid retyping for Facebook, Flickr and the galleries.

So there you have it, several little known features that make my day in PSE14!
