Never Download Photos again! Eye-Fi to the rescue

October 9, 2013 By Melissa Shanhun 2 Comments

How many photos are on your camera right now?
If you are like me, getting around to downloading your camera photos isn't at the top of your to do list.

  • Would you love to skip that step and go straight to scrapping?
  • Do you ever go to take a few shots and find all your SD cards are full?
  • Do you have trouble remembering which shots you've imported and which are new?

Did you know with the help of a little piece of technology that can do the downloading, organising (and even uploading) for you.
I've been using an Eye-Fi card for the past few years and I love it.

I bought the 16gb card for my point and shoot camera and it works a charm.

After registering my card,  I set the card up to file my photos by date taken.

I also linked it up with my Flickr account, so my photos upload there as a backup.

Whenever I take a photo, within range of our computer, a little box pops up and the photo or video I shot is downloaded automatically.

uploading

If I'm out and about taking photos, the next time I turn on my camera at home, all the photos download.

Anyone in the family can access their photos within moments of taking them, and since they go straight to Flickr (with Family only privacy settings) we can share them on our tablets and computers. My husband loves being able to show people photos of our children without having to bug me about them!

If you are a scrapbooker, there's one more secret you should know about Eye-Fi cards!

You can set your card up to upload photos to Shutterfly, Costco or other photo printers. You can then log in and select your photos when you are ready to print. No more uploading photos at the last minute to grab those free 101 prints!

Once the photos are safely stored away, the Eye-Fi card can delete them (to save space) or just indicate that they are already uploaded on your camera screen, so you can delete them yourself later and keep on using your card.

You can also use the Eye-Fi browser to get a quick look at all your photos by date. Handy for those Project Life albums!

This system saves me a lot of fuss and I love knowing my photos are both safe and easy for me to access.

Here's a link - go buy one today and save yourself a big headache!
