Digital Project Life, the beloved companion of memory keepers and scrapbook enthusiasts, has gracefully stepped off the digital stage. It’s time to bid adieu to this virtual scrapbooking wonderland. Although Digital Project Life closed their virtual doors back in February 2024, it's only just come to my attention that it's closed. But I couldn't resist taking a moment to reflect on its journey and celebrate the memories it helped us preserve.
The Rise of Digital Project Life
Back in the early 2010s, Becky Higgins revolutionized the scrapbooking world. She introduced us to Project Life—a system that simplified memory keeping by combining pocket-style albums with beautifully designed cards. Suddenly, documenting life’s moments became less daunting and more delightful.
And then came the digital twist: Digital Project Life. It arrived on the scene in July 2013! It was like having a magical scrapbooking genie in your computer. No paper cuts, no glue mishaps—just drag, drop, and voilà! Your memories were neatly organized, ready to be printed or shared online. 🌟
The Journey
Digital Project Life danced through our screens, offering an array of kits, templates, and embellishments. Birthdays, vacations, lazy Sundays—it had a card for every occasion. We resized photos, adjusted shadows, and played with fonts like kids in a digital candy store.
Remember those themed kits? The “Everyday Adventure” set made grocery shopping feel epic. The “Sunshine” collection turned rainy days into photo ops. And “Cherry Edition”? Well, it made cherries look cooler than a cucumber.
The End of an Era
But alas, all good things must come to an end. As February 2024 dawned, Digital Project Life quietly stepped backstage. Its servers sighed, its pixels waved goodbye, and its virtual scrapbooks closed their digital covers.
The Project Life app has ended up being the one continuing element of the Project Life project that Becky Higgins started. The paper supplies were discontinued in 2019, the digital Project Life supplies in February this year.
What Now?
Fear not, fellow memory keepers! While Digital Project Life may have retired its pixels, the spirit of storytelling lives on. We adapt, pivot, and find new ways to document our lives. You can still pick up lots of Pocket Page scrapbooking supplies in our favorite digital scrapbooking stores. Maybe it’s time to explore hybrid scrapbooking—mixing digital and physical elements. Or perhaps you'll give the Project Life app, photo books, or even handwritten journals.
You can still use and enjoy the digital kits you already have. The Project Life Youtube videos are still around to help you use them.
Remember, it’s not about the platform; it’s about the memories. Whether you’re cutting paper or clicking pixels, your stories matter. So raise a virtual glass (or a real one—your choice) to Digital Project Life. It was a good run, and our hard drives will forever echo its creative whispers. 📸✨
