My favorite birthday memory as a kid was a hayride with many of my sweet classmates in middle school. My favorite adult one was a surprise trip my husband planned. He sent my best friend and I to another city for a girls’ weekend, and “Phantom of the Opera” tickets were included!

    Happy Birthday Digital Scrapbooking HQ!

My favourate birthday memory was tonight! My kids are now 29 (girl) and 34 (boy) and I miss the little parties we used to have when they were kids, and the ones I had as a child. So I decided to have a party for them (and me) with the types of food we used to have when they were little, and the food I remember my Mum making for my birthdays in England.
I baked a vanilla sponge cake with icing, sausage rolls, cheese and onions on sticks (stuck into an orange) and cheese and pineapple the same. I made little “ham and cucumber” sandwiches and “egg salad” sandwiches. I had salt and vinegar chips (crisps in England) because when we were young that was the only flavour we ever saw!
For desserts I made red jello with white chocolate pudding topping We also had bowls of fresh strawberries and grapes, and tiny tomatoes from our garden.
I thought my grown kids would think I was crazy but they all enjoyed it and and ate everything! We reminisced about all the parties we had received, and or, given and decided the traditional home party was the best.
My 34 year old son, especially, thought it was great, he even took the rest of the cake home. What a great “kids” party we had.
It was definitely my favourite birthday memory mixed in with all the years of many, many great birthday memories.

My favorite birthday memory was when I turned 30. I’d been dreading it, since I was still single while the majority of my friends were married. So the ladies from my church small group chipped in so that I could attend the first night of a women’s conference that my church was participating in that weekend and hang out overnight with them, and then several of my closest friends took me out to a fancy creperie for dinner that night. I felt very loved!

One of my favorite birthday memories, I just found pictures of the other day. My mom made me a Barbie cake where the top had an actual doll and the bottom was a skirt made out of cake. My mom didn’t want the candles in the front for the picture because she was thought it would block the view of the doll, so my dad put them in the back and lit them. The candles were too close to the doll’s hair and it caught on fire while everyone was singing “Happy Birthday.” It was hilarious to everyone, except my poor mom.

My favourite birthday memory is of a few years ago when my boyfriend got a birthday cake for me at midnight, but I went off to sleep as I was quite tired after work. I got up in the morning and felt bad when I realised what happened last night. So we spent the entire day together and had a great time to make up for it 😊

My most memorable birthday was when I turned 3. My mom made an angel food cake and put a Barbie doll in the center. The cake was her beautiful dress and she wore icing flowers in her hair. It must have taken a while for mom to create it. Thank you

I think my favorite birthday memory was when I turned 10 and had a “proper fancy-ladies luncheon” party with friends- including gourmet Chicken Kiev to eat and a beautiful two-layer lavender basket-weave cake that matched my “fancy” dress. I even wore white gloves, cause it helped me feel more grown up! I also got a teensy-tiny diamond ring from my godfather- for my first decade!

My favorite birthday memory is from about 3 years ago when my oldest was 1 and he and daddy took me to a local bakery that is next to a book store for breakfast. After we ate I got to just wander the book store all by myself. As a gift my boys made me some home made art, the first kid birthday art. ❤︎

My favorite birthday memory is when I turned 10. My Dad had to move 9 hours away to find work and had been gone for almost 6 months. He came home on my birthday and told us we had enough money now for a big enough house so my Mom, sister and I could move with him. I missed my Dad and our close family unit that I cried every night talking to him on the phone. Our family would finally be together again. BEST BIRTHDAY EVER.

I must have been in 10th grade. I got home late from field hockey practice after school to find my boyfriend and his mother in the kitchen with my mother. Since I had expected to find leftovers in the oven (and a younger brother eager to have cake, probably before I ate dinner), it was a lovely surprise to find both family and guests waiting for dinner together.

Happy seventh birthday! One of my favorite birthday memories was on my tenth birthday. Although I have a boy’s name, I am a girl. However, I was a tomboy and loved baseball. My brother, five years older, gave me a new bat and then he and two of his best friends took me to a local baseball park./field and practiced with me for hours. Since then I have children and grandchildren, so I am sure there have been many birthdays with sweet memories, but this one stands tall in my memory bank.

I have one birthday memory, that while it is not my favorite, it stands out in my memories.

This was in February in the SF Bay area – Marin County to be exact. The Saturday before my 15th birthday, Dad, my brothers and I decided to go on a hike in the Mount Tamalpais State Park. Some of my older brother’s friends came along. They knew the way to go from the parking area we were at, to the parking area up the mountain, about a hour and a half hike. Dad drove to the upper parking lot to meet us.

We wound up splitting into two groups. My group came to a fork in the road and the person who said he had done this hike before, made the wrong choice as to what path to take. I knew we were going the wrong way, but he insisted that he was right. After hiking for over 3 hours, the sun was starting to go down and it was getting colder, the “leader” said “I guess I made the wrong choice. Judy, you were right”.

I said, let’s turn around and go back to the fork in the road. Our leader said, “I know this goes up to the parking lot, it is just longer”. Famous last words.

We wound up huddled up on the side of the mountain overnight. Our friends and relatives (and strangers, since it was announced on the radio) were out hunting for us all night long. We could hear them yelling for us, and we responded, but since we didn’t know where we were, they couldn’t find us.

Next day, the leader said, “Let’s do what Judy suggested and just go back the way we came”. After 4 hours hiking back to the fork in the road, we hiked another hour to the parking lot. There must have been 100 people there that had been searching for us!

After getting back home and taking a bath, I was ready to take a nap – then the door bell rang. It was my friends arriving for my birthday party! I had completely forgotten about that. I re-scheduled the party for the following week and took a well deserved nap.

My favorite birthday memory is the year my Dad took me to dinner, just the two of us, at the local hotel. We got all dressed up in our Sunday best, and the owner (who was French) treated me as all grown up, though I was likely 7 or 8, greeting me by kissing my hand which I thought was amazing. I was and always have been a slow eater, and I’m sure my Dad had a dozen cups of coffee waiting for me to finish, but he never complained or insisted I hurry. It was a real treat!
