This week as a special bonus I am sharing the full process video for the creation of this layout.
I was thrilled to be invited back as a featured designer for the Scrap Happy Layout a Day: Memories Managed this February.
Today's prompt was: Quidditch. What was your favourite sport to play? What games do you play now? Are you an online gamer? Do you play games on your phone? Are you competitive?
I was a bit slow to develop my hand-eye coordination, so I didn't excel in sport. I tried hard but it took me until I was 8 to actually catch a ball during a game of tee-ball! I'm a big cricket fan, so I considered creating a layout about our cricketing adventures, but then I decided to document my time as a dance student. Dance is a sport, right?
Journaling
From the age of 4, I took dance classes. First Modern Jazz and Tap, then Ballet. I enjoyed performing, but I wasn't too fussed when I moved to just doing my exams and not the concerts. If you know dance, there's a lot of time and money that goes into the concert each year. I loved ballet and continued up to grade 3 before we took a break from dance when I was 12. Years later I went back to dance (age 23!) and was part of the City of Perth Christmas Pageant. I moved over to doing pilates for a few years, then took up ballet again at 30.
Looking back, I wish I'd had more body confidence and kept going with ballet into my teen years. I was a late bloomer and felt shy being older and shorter than my fellow students. It's a bit ironic because that's the typical ballerina shape!
How to Create the Look
Scan some 'vintage' photos or negatives with Forever (US/Canada residents)
Select your photos. Here's a few tips if your photos feel overwhelming.
Start with a blank 12x12 300dpi file (using the Scrapbooking presets
Add papers. I had to use ballet pink on my page! I'm team pink in life in general so it's not a stretch for me to pull out the Maggie Holmes Gather kit (in digital of course!). I chose a black and white floral in memory of my time at Gail Meade - Team GM is black and white!
Add your journalling in a text box.
Frame your photos and journalling with embellishments. Need help with that? Digi Scrap from Scratch I show you the techniques I use most often on my pages.
Finally, Create your titles with alpha stickers. Here's how to keep them all in a row.

I mentioned Studio Flergs Remember the Magic: Pixie Dust in the video, but I'm not sure I actually used any of those elements on the page!
