Did you know PSE has some different tools to full Photoshop and different keyboard shortcuts? Stop the confusion with the ABCs of PSE!
M is for Marquee. Use the marquee tool to create a selection.
- MARQUEE TIP: Press M again to use the elliptical marquee.
- MARQUEE TIP: Once you've selected part of your image you can paint inside the lines trouble free! While a selection is active, you the brush tool will stop working when it hits the edge of the selection. Awesome!

- MARQUEE TIP: Ctrl+D (Cmd+D) will deselect all selections
- Watch how to get a soft edge, increase the feathering in the tool options:
- MARQUEE TIP: After making your selection, you can nudge it around with the arrow keys for more precise placement.
- MARQUEE TIP: After making your selection, move the selection around by clicking and dragging inside the selection with the marquee tool.
- MARQUEE TIP: Ctrl+J (Cmd+J) will duplicate just the selected area to a new layer, leaving your original layer intact (just in case you change your mind!).
