Did you know PSE has some different tools to full Photoshop and different keyboard shortcuts? Stop the confusion with the ABCs of PSE!
Press K for the Paint Bucket tool. Click once to fill the current layer or selection with a flat colour.
- Use tool options to control how the Paint Bucket behaves. Choose a tolerance level that specifies how similar in colour a pixel must be before it is filled. The lower the value, the more similar the colour must be.
- A great example of a use the Paint bucket tool in photos.
- Is the paint bucket rebellious? Check the tolerance. Still no luck? Reset it using the little menu in the top right of PSE11's tool options bar (in PSE6-10 it's on the top left of the tool options bar).
- Combine a layer of flat colour with a textured paper using a blend mode for customised backgrounds.
