Happy New Year! It's that time of year where we are all wanting to be more organized, so to help with that I'm welcoming Kim Edsen to the blog - Kim is a long time scrapbooker and now a digital scrapbooker! Kim found Get Organized Supplies helpful in her digi scrapping this year, and I asked her to share a little bit about her experience.
Get Organized Supplies is a 5 lessons class that jump starts your organizing with Photoshop Elements.
Let's hand over to Kim...
What Made You Decide to Buy the Class?
As my digital stash grew, it became tedious to dig through folders to find items when scrapbooking. I was already scrapping in Photoshop Elements, so it made sense to organize my files within that system as well.
What was Your Aha Moment?
Before transitioning to digital scrapbooking I organized and looked for supplies by color, so the ability to quickly and easily search for digital elements by color, using the visual search feature, was mind blowing!
It's early days but initial reaction is that this organization system is going to change my scrap life! I had imported everything and set up key words a few weeks ago, but sat down yesterday to figure out HOW to use it. I like to scrap by color and as my stash grew it got to be impossible to click in and out of folders. After weeks of no scrapping I whipped out most of two layouts in quick succession using the visual search option to find things by color….A.MAZ.ING. I am also finding the advantage of using digital designers vs. paper products that are released digitally…it seems there is a lot of built in search options with the digital originals. Like I wanted a piece of twine and I searched by filename; boom, there it was. So easy.
How do you organise your supplies?
I tend to start my scrapbook layouts by choosing papers, so that is where I have focused my organization. Since completing the class, I have tagged preview images, digital papers, and a few favorite items I turn to repeatedly. My papers are also tagged by color (multi-colored or cut apart sheets are tagged accordingly). From there, I am easily able to find what I want by using tips from the class: quickly access full collections via the information tab, use visual search to locate similarly colored items, or find elements by searching filenames.
Kim's Layouts
This was my first layout after completing Melissa Shanhun's PhotoShop Elements Supply Organization class and the ability to search my digital supplies by color blew my mind. (Uses Simple Scrapper Sketch #522)
Have you taken Get Organized Supplies? How did you find the process, I'd love to feature more scrapbookers who are using Photoshop Elements Organizer as it's such an under-used tool in our community.
Happy Organizing!
