Over the years we all collect many more digital scrapbooking kits than we could ever possibly use. Or there may be kits that you have used many times and don't need to keep anymore. Learn how to safely and easily delete kits from Photoshop Elements Organizer.
How to Delete Kits
Begin with the folder view in Photoshop Elements. By default you will see the albums view. There is another button you can select. Click Folders and then View As Tree. I find the list view confusing to look at. To view it as a tree you get a better idea of where things are.
To delete a kit Right Click on the kit name in the folders view. Then select Delete Folder. When the confirmation box pops up select Also, delete the files and folders from the hard disk.
When trying to decide if I'm going to delete kits I weigh the amount of time it will take to find and delete the kits vs the amount of hard drive space I have. If you have plenty of space, deleting kits may not be a pressing need.
How to Find Old Kits
A quick way to search for kits you don't use is to scroll all the way to the oldest items in your stash. When you find a paper or element you don't think you will use select the item, then Right Click and choose Go to Folder. That will show you the whole folder. Usually you will also find the other parts of the kit nearby. Now you can follow the steps above to delete the entire kit.
Disconnected Files
If you delete your kits manually from your hard drive you may end up with unlinked files in Photoshop Elements Organizer. When you are in Organizer you will see that some files are greyed out because they are unavailable. Simply click on the folder, select all of the files in that folder and delete. In this case, don't click the checkbox for "Also delete selected items from the hard disk." because they are already gone. When you start by deleting from the hard drive you essentially have to delete twice. Whereas, when you start inside Photoshop Elements Organizer you can delete from both places with one simple click.
