Have you been considering taking part in Week in the Life? Week in the Life is a documentary project developed by Ali Edwards that gives you the opportunity to take a snapshot of your
Don't Stress
My first tip is to take a deep breath and relax. There's no need to stress! Your life is worthy of documentation. You will have plenty of photos. Whatever camera you have in your hand is the right one to use. Most importantly, remember...you can do this!
Use Levels
You might think I'm using some kind of photo editing terminology, and while those kind of levels are great to use too I actually mean physically. Taking photos from different angles offers a unique perspective on life. So take photos from above, get down to ground level, shoot from the side or from behind. Take the opportunity this week to try something new. Don't worry, the neighbors will hardly notice you laying on the ground taking pictures.
Get in the Photos
Guess who is a part of your life? YOU! Be sure that you include yourself in some of the photos during the week. Use the timer mode on your phone or camera to take action shots, take a selfie, or hand over the camera to someone else and ask them to snap a few shots.
It's All in the Details
In addition to taking photos of the people in your life consider taking time to document the small details. Where is your favorite place to be in your home? What odds and ends does your family leave laying around? What is the weather like? Where do you shop? What's in your car? These things will change as life goes on. Trust me, you will value having these photos as time goes on.
Use Some Fast Photo Fixes
Once the documenting portion of Week in the Life is finished you may want to use a few Fast Photo Fixes on all those pictures you took! In my class at Big Picture Classes I will guide you through the process of editing your digital photos. Through videos and step-by-step instructions, I'll show how easy it is to use Photoshop Elements to do basic fixes, apply photo effects, and more.
I hope these tips have given you the confidence to give Week in the Life a try! What photo tips would you share? Leave a comment below!
