I'd like to welcome Jennifer Wilson from Simple Scrapper today. I value the work Jennifer is doing at Simple Scrapper to help women recapture the joy of memory keeping through practical steps to make scrapbooking fit their lives.
Whether you're new to digital or an experienced scrapbooker, incorporating more practical approaches can up the satisfaction level as you get more done, easier. Templates are my go-to shortcut, but productivity boosters are not exclusive to page design. You can look at the start-to-finish process of scrapbooking to find practical ideas.
1. Declutter photos on your phone - Just as with a regular camera, we take a lot of images with our phones that are duplicates, accidents or just not-so-good. Go through these periodically and delete the duds so they never leave your phone.
2. Send journaling to one place - With so many options for sharing thoughts and photos online, our memories can become a little disjointed. Consciously send every anecdote to one single place so it can be a reference for later scrapbooking.
3. Get ready to scrapbook - Some digital scrapbookers can spend a lot of time choosing products, taking up precious scrapbook time. Get the most out of your dedicated scrapbooking time by prepping page kits in advance that include photos and supplies on a canvas.
4. Scrap what matters most - You don't have to scrapbook every photo or even every event. Prioritize your memories, dedicating the very best ones to your scrapbooks. The rest can find a home in your photo albums or digital library.
5. Find a home - Unless you're on a creative team, it's probably not necessary to share your layouts in more than one gallery. Choose one location to be the home for your scrapbook pages and save time by only uploading pages there.
While digital scrapbooking is a creative process, the practical techniques you implement along the way help ensure your albums are filled with your best memories and preserved for years to come. Do you have any must-share practical tips for your fellow scrapbookers?
Jennifer S. Wilson is a memory keeping educator who believes anyone can find time to create more. Her next book, Everyday Storyteller 2, is available now.
Melissa here - I've bought my own copy of Everyday Storyteller 2 to add to my bookshelf. But I couldn't resist taking a peek at the ebook too. You will not be disappointed by the quality of the writing, the photography and the inspiration inside.
